Introduction to The Department of Pharmacology

     The Department of Pharmacology was established in 1974. There are 14 faculty members, including 4 professors, 4 associate professors. Among of them, 9 are Ph.D. 7 faculty members have overseas training background and 7 teachers are M.S student advisors. The department also has 1 Taishan scholar overseas expert, 1 outstanding youth expert of Shandong Province, 1 outstanding technical expert of Shandong Province, 1 chief scientist of colleges and universities in Shandong province, 1 school-level professional and technical top-notch talent. There are 8 people who serve as international, national or provincial academic group chairman, vice chairman, members and other academic positions.

     The Department of Pharmacology undertakes course teaching of undergraduates and graduates, such as Pharmacology, Chinese medicine pharmacology, Cardiovascular pharmacology, Neuropharmacology, Pharmacokinetics. Pharmacology course was honor as higher education reform pilot course of Shandong Province in 1999, and then was named as the provincial quality courses in 2004. Pharmacology was approved as the master's degree authorized subject in 2003. Pharmacology teaching team was awarded the title of Provincial Teaching Team in 2007. Pharmacological disciplines was listed as key discipline of Shandong Province during the "10th Five-Year Plan " and "11th Five-Year Plan", then was listed as characteristic key disciplines of Shandong Province during the period of "12th Five-Year Plan".

     The Department of Pharmacology has implemented 10 projects funded by National Natural Science Fundation, 1 sub-project from Major New Drug Science and Technology Foundation, 12 projects from Ministerial Teaching and Research Foundation over the past five years. The total funding is 5.76 million yuan (RMB). The Department is leading over the development of a new drug (by the national new drug certificate), holding 4 innovation patents and 4 utility model patents., The department has published more than 100 academic papers (first or senior authors), 31 of which are included in SCI. The department has edited and published 13 textbooks, professional reference books, and 15 teaching research papers. The department has received the Award of Provincial Science and Technology Progress twice (ranked as the second and third, respectively).

      Under the guidance of teachers, many students have been awarded prizes in various professional competitions, including a second and a third prize in "Medicine Forum" of the national college, a second prize in National College Students Foundation Innovation Forum and experimental design contest. In addition, 11 students have achieved the national college students innovation and entrepreneurship training program projects.
