The office was established in October 2003. There are 7 full-time teachers, including 2 professors and 2 associate professors, 4 Doctor's degrees, 3 master's degrees, 4 master's tutors, and one of them is a double ability teacher. There are 1 standing director and 1 director of the academic committee of Chinese Herb Medicine Museum, and 1 director of educational research association of Authentication of Chinese Medicines.
Up to date, the office mainly undertakes the teaching task of the following 11 courses of undergraduates and junior college students, such as “Chinese Materia Medica”, “Authentication of Chinese Medicines”, “Science of Chinese Drug Processing ”, “Chinese Materia Medica Commoditology”, “Traditional Chinese Resources ” , “Chinese Medicine Professional English ”, “Classical Literature of Chinese Medicines ”, “Pharmacognosy”, “Pharmaceutical Botany”, “Field Practice of Pharmaceutical Botany”, “Pharmaceutical Botany and Pharmacognosy”. Also taking on the training task of master's graduate student in pharmacognosy and having quality engineering projects of Chinese medicine teaching team at shool level, “Pharmacognosy”and “Chinese Materia Medica” 2 refined courses at provincial level.
Since the 12th five-year plan, the following achievements have been made in teaching. The chief editors (or deputy editors) from this office have compiled 4 national textbooks and participanted 7 national textbooks. Having undertaken 4 teaching and research projects at shool level and published 3 teaching and research papers. Having won 1 award for the third prize in teachers' micro-course teaching competition in Shandong higher school, 1 award for the third prize in the school teachers' micro-course teaching competition, and 1 award for the third prize in the 11th middle youth teaching expert of Taishan Medical University.
The achievements made in scientific research are as followed. Having undertaken 15 scientific research projects, including 4 projects of natural science foundation of Shandong province and 11 projects of the department level. Having won seven various awards, including 4 for the second prize in Shandong high school outstanding scientific research achievement award, 1 for the second prize in Tai’an City science and technology progress award in 2016, and 2 for the second prize in Taishan Medical University outstanding scientific research achievement award. Having published 22 academic papers with the first author or correspondence author, with 12 SCI included.
The guidance for students is as follows. Students won 1 award for the third prize in China and 1 special award in Shandong province in the “Challenge Cup” undergraduate entrepreneurship program competition, 1 award for the third prize in the “Challenge Cup” undergraduate extracurricular academic science and technology works competition in Shandong province, 1 award for the third prize of undergraduate medicine garden BBS innovation achievement of the fourth national university of China, 1 award for the second prize in the national college students experiment skills competition of pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine specialty, and have taken part in the national undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship training program 6 items. Furthermore, to guide postgraduate students to obtained 1 thesis of excellent master's degree in Shandong province in 2014 and 1 thesis of excellent master's degree in Taishan medical university in 2015 respectively.
