Pharmacological discipline has received the honor to be key discipline of Shandong Province during the "10th Five-Year Plan "(2000-2005) and "11th Five-Year Plan"(2005-2010), as well as characteristic key discipline of Shandong Province during the period of "12th Five-Year Plan"(2010-2015). Taishan scholar post - Institute of pharmacology was established based on the key disciplines in 2015.
The is an important research platform in Shandong. Currently, 42 faculty members (20 professors and 22 associate professors) and 22 technical staffs are working here. 41 of them are Ph.D (6 Ph.D candidates) and 26 of them are M.S student advisors.
The past years have witnessed several breakthroughs of the Pharmacological discipline. The funds for discipline construction are increasing year by year. 11 millions yuan (RMB) are invested to purchase a large number of international advanced scientific research equipments in the past five years, which significantly improved research and experimental conditions.
To strengthen the construction of talent team, we introduce 1 Taishan scholars overseas distinguished expert, 3 overseas postdoctoral, 1 key disciplines in Colleges and universities of Shandong province, cultivate 1 second-grade professor. The degree, title, age and knowledge structure of the chief expert team members have been further improved, while the innovation capacity has been improved greatly.
The discipline has implemented 68 research projects (nearly 700 million yuan), authorized the invention of eight patents, identified 15 scientific and technological achievements, published 178 academic papers and 16 textbooks, won 15 scientific research awards. At the same time, we are significantly contributing to local economy development through the Taishan Real Estate Research and Development of Chinese medicine.
We are focusing on the cultivation of students' innovative ability as well. One graduate student has published paper in the journal of Biomaterials (IF8.557, 2015) as the first author. Under the guidance of teachers, 56 students have achieved the national college student’s innovation and entrepreneurship training program projects. Many students have been awarded prizes in various professional competitions, including 14 National Awards and 8 Provincial Awards.
